How the Instagram Algorithm Actually Works…How To Best Spend Your Time on The App 2022
Are you stumped on how the new Instagram algorithm actually works?
Instagram has been and will be going through many changes in effort to keep up with it’s competitor Tik Tok.
So for today’s blog we just want you to focus on the top 3 signals the Instagram Algorithm focuses on when promoting and connecting users to the content that shows up on your timeline.
Instagram algorithms rely on three key signals:
Who: Whose posts are you interacting with? If you frequently like or comment on someone's content, you're more likely to see their posts in your feed.
What: What type of content do you engage with? For example, if you love beauty content, the algorithm will continue serving that type of content to you.
When: "This focuses on when a post has been posted to decide if it's relevant to you." It also takes into consideration how often you scroll on the app — so it will pick and choose what to prioritize.
Listen to what Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram has to say about the aligorthm.
Translation please? Basically the Instagram algorithm monitors every interaction you make on the app, from the posts you like to who you interact with, in order to serve you content it believes you will interact with the most.
So what do you do with that information?
Interact with content that matches your target audience so that your content is staying on the timeline of your ideal customer. Every interaction counts so save the non-related content for your personal account.
When you are not engaging directly with your target audience, engage with brands that your target audience loves as well so your content will be promoted back to you and your audience.
Review your analytics weekly and spend a least 30 min a day engaging on the platform. That number isn’t for any other reason other than to serve as a benchmark to start with to ensure you are taking the time to engage with the followers who engage with you.
Remember the goal is to show up on your target audience’s timeline. Keep your customers in mind from the content creation phase until the post are live and your content will find them!
